We are now in the second half of our Autumn term and have many exciting things to look forward too.

For information about this half terms learning click on the Autumn 2 overview document below and our Class Time table.

Follow us on Twitter for updates on the activities that we complete in class! I will aim to post at the end of each week to show all of the learning achieved.

Reading

Your child should have a reading journal and they will have opportunities to change their book throughout the week. Every time they read at home it would be great if you could log this in their reading journal. We will have golden tickets in school that the children can achieve through reading at home. 20 reads will get them a golden ticket. We will be looking at the children's reading logs on a Monday and Thursday and asking them to change their book if needed. Although sometimes we will suggest keeping a book for a bit longer to re read to support their understanding and fluency.

Homework

When the children have settled back in I will be sending home weekly phonics and spellings for your child to be practising. Your child should also now have logins in their reading records to all websites and programs we will be using in school. It would be great if your child could use Teach Your Monster to Read and RM Easi Maths.

PE

Our PE session will be on a Monday afternoon as well as a Forest School session on a Wednesday afternoon. Please can you ensure that a full, appropriate PE kit is provided for your children to take part! This includes: a white t-shirt, black shorts and pumps/trainers. For forest school we suggest bringing in warmer clothes for your child that you don't mind them getting dirty in. We will be doing multi-skills in PE this half term. It is also important to consider that any form of jewellery is to be removed before a PE lesson, so can you ensure that your child has something safe to place it in.
Many thanks for your continued support!

Snack and water bottles

Please ensure that your child brings a water bottle each day so that you can access fresh water.

We are now also selling snack again each morning break if you wish your child to purchase toast, bagel, crumpet and a drink.

Your child can also bring in their own healthy snack and we usually have fruit available for free.

Phonics

New sounds and patterns will be explored. Phonics screening checks will be done half termly to track progress and gaps. I will also be sending home weekly phonics resources for your child to practise what we have been doing in school, at home. A recap of Phase 3 will be the focus going forward.
